Getting Sellers Permits

A home business license and a resellers permit are needed to sell art in the Tri-City area. There are benefits in the resellers permit in that you need not pay taxes on your art supplies that are intended for resale.

  1. City of Fremont Home Business License
    • Contact the City of Fremont to apply for a Home Business License.
    • Visit the City of Fremont Business Licenses webpage for more information.
    • Fill out the application form provided on the website or obtain it from the City Hall.
    • Submit the completed application along with any required documentation and fees.
    • Wait for approval from the City of Fremont. Processing times may vary.
  2. Resale Sales Tax Permit from CDTFA
    • Visit the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) website.
    • Look for information on obtaining a Resale Sales Tax Permit (Seller's Permit).
    • Click on "Register" or "Apply for a Permit" and follow the prompts.
    • Provide necessary information about your home business and the nature of your sales (art).
    • Submit the application online or by mail along with any required documentation.
    • Once approved, you will receive your Resale Sales Tax Permit.
